One day when my mom had me standing on her lap my mom noticed that instead of standing straight my legs had stiffened up mid-bounce and instead I had flipped backwards. Who knew that one of my dreams was to be an Olympic gymnast someday! Ha ha! Just kidding. I was around 3 months old at the time this happened I think. I am not completely sure. My mom was so concerned she was not sure what to do. So my mom started to research . Finally she found the answer. Gillette Children’s Specialty Clinic.
Basic Testing
After waiting in the waiting room for a little bit after my mom went up to the front desk to check me in, the nurse came to tell us “come on back Megan we are ready to see you!” The doctor had me do some basic tests. Such as testing my range of motion and flexibility.
MRI Brian Scan
After that the doctor had ordered for an MRI scan of my brain to see if there was anything they could find. The doctor had told my mom to come back to Gillette children’s 2 weeks later. So my mom scheduled an appointment for 2 weeks from now.
The MRI Scan results
The Doctor wanted to talk with my mom about the results from my MRI Scan of my brain. The doctor said to my mother,”It looks like there was a mild brain bleed after she was born. Because of this I believe that your daughter Megan has what is called “Cerebral Palsy!” I don’t know how severe the brain bleed was.” My mother was very shocked. The doctor had continued to talk saying ” Megan may never be able to walk.” She may not be able to talk until she is 6 years old and she won’t ever be able to live independently for the rest of her life.” My mother replied back saying, ” My daughter will be able to do anything else a normal kid can do.” You will see,just watch!”
